Submitting payments to your bank
Collect payment orders from your supplier invoices and upload them to your e-banking as a pain.001 file.
Creating payment orders
Payment orders are created right in your expenses: every supplier invoice gets a payment order with recipient, amount and execution date when you record it. See Recording expenses for how this works.
An order only shows up in the list once its expense is approved. If details like the IBAN or the recipient's address are missing, Blond flags this right on the order. You can only select such orders once you've completed the expense.
Downloading the payment file (pain.001)
You'll find all open payment orders under Transactions → Payment initiation (also reachable via Expenses → Payment initiation). If you have several bank accounts, switch between them at the top right — each payment file belongs to exactly one account.

- Review the open orders and correct them if needed — clicking a row opens the related expense.
- Select the orders you want to pay.
- Click the Download button and download the payment file in pain.001 format (XML).
- Upload the file in your bank's e-banking and release the payments there.
When downloading, you choose how the bank should execute the payments:
| Option | Execution date | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| As collective order | All payments today | Only possible with orders in the same currency |
| As individual orders | The execution date stored on each bill | Handy if you want to pay bills just before they're due |
Not paid yet
Downloading the file doesn't execute any payment — that only happens once you upload and release the file in your e-banking. Accordingly, the expense in Blond only counts as paid after that.
Payment order status
A payment order goes through three stages. You'll see the status in the payment order list and on the expense itself.
| Status | Meaning | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| Approved | The expense is approved, the payment file hasn't been downloaded yet. | Download the payment file |
| Transmitted | The payment file has been downloaded. Whether the bank executed the payment isn't confirmed yet. | Release the file in your e-banking, then reconcile |
| Paid | The debit is confirmed — through bank reconciliation or by hand. | — |
Transmitted orders stay in the list until the payment is confirmed. They're no longer preselected, though, so you don't accidentally put them into a second payment file. Hover over the Transmitted badge to see when the file was created.
Under Expenses, the Transmitted tab collects all transmitted bills in one place.
Avoid double payments
You can select and download a transmitted order again — for example if the upload to your e-banking failed. Check in your e-banking first that the first file wasn't already released. Otherwise you'll pay the bill twice.
If you manually set an expense's status back (to draft or Approved), its payment order loses the Transmitted status. It shows up in the list as an open order again.
Marking as executed
Once your bank has executed the payments, you close the loop during the next bank reconciliation: when you import your account statement, Blond recognizes the debits and suggests the matching transmitted payment orders. As soon as you confirm the match, the expense counts as Paid.
If you exceptionally paid something by hand outside of Blond, you can also mark the selected orders as executed directly in the list.
